Honouring the Wisdom of Maramataka

In te ao Māori (the Māori world), the maramataka is a traditional lunar calendar that has guided generations in understanding the rhythms of the natural world.

Whiro marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle in many maramataka traditions. Associated with the dark moon, Whiro is a time to acknowledge stillness, conserve energy and turn our attention inward.

Rather than rushing toward new beginnings, we are invited to pause, reflect and listen.

A Gathering Rooted in Heritage

Join Bridget for a meaningful evening inspired by her Māori heritage and her connection to the traditions of maramataka.

Through her practice, Tamawahine Toa Aroha, Bridget brings together holistic wellness, mindful movement and Māori perspectives on the relationship between body, mind, spirit and nature.

This special wānanga — a gathering for shared learning and reflection — offers space to explore the significance of Whiro while reconnecting with the quiet wisdom within.

The evening will include gentle breathwork, guided meditation, sound healing and moments of personal reflection.

This is not about forcing change or seeking immediate answers. It is about honouring the pause.

There is wisdom in stillness. There is meaning in darkness. There is beauty in beginning again.
